An extensive two-month journey around the Land Down Under is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an older woman who was stranded by the vessel on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the party for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back after some time after the crew discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt located her person the next day.

Authorities are investigating the incident, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and previous engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that travelers would be issued a full refund, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the travelers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also issued an updated announcement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" prohibiting any further travelers from boarding the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the ship in the port city upon its return.

The vessel initially left Cairns on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the moment of the 80-year-old's demise. The tropical location was the initial destination on the itinerary.
